5 red onions
1 cup water
2/3 cup cane sugar
Chop the onions in thin slices. Add to a saucepan with the sugar and water. Mix well. Start the heat at medium / low and let simmer for approximately 1 hour, uncovered. Stir well from time to time in that period. Let cool and enjoy!
