Lycopene is found in some natural foods that have a rich orange to red color. It’s a strong antioxidant that can protect your body against oxidative stress and can offer protection from chronic diseases and environmental toxins.

The biggest food source are tomatoes and the riper the tomato, the more lycopene it contains. The amount of lycopene that the body can absorb from tomatoes is increased by heating them (15 minutes is sufficient) or pureeing them. A source of fat consumed at the same time will also increase the absorption of lycopene.
